Samuel Lawrence Kovacs is an experienced and passionate live sound technician and designer, having worked in a wide range of venues and positions. As a student at Texas Tech University, Samuel has live mixed several large-scale musicals including Bright Star and the world premiere of The Nerve of Minerva, as well as designed highlight productions including Hamlet and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Through school productions and classes, he has learned to utilize industry standard programs like Spacemap Go, QLab, and Ableton Live. He also works frequently as an on-call with IATSE Local 865 assisting with the load ins and loud outs of Broadway tours at the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts & Sciences. In addition, at Buddy Holly Hall he is a part time house audio technician, most often running local community events such as Texas Tech Concerts and youth choirs. In 2025, Samuel spent the summer working for Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas as the Audio Intern of the Resident Shows Division, where he received personal tours by Jonathan Deans and worked on shows including Kà and Michael Jackson ONE. In his spare time, he enjoys sound editing, designing, and voice acting for audio dramas and miscellaneous independent audio projects.
